Work Experience _

 

R.A. King Networking & Communications is experienced working with Cat5E, Cat6 and fiber optic cable both single and multi-mode. Possesses ability to terminate and test copper and fiber. Operates Cable & fiber testing equipment, including but not limited to a Cat 6, Fluke Networks, Source & Meter, and OTDR tester. Responsible for punching down and lacing structured cable. Conducts measurements, such as distances to be spanned by wire and cable, which affect installation and arrangement of equipment. Adapted and modified standard techniques, procedures and criteria to solve complex problems. Interpreted blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans during installations. Programmed and troubleshot devices following installations.

 

Perform installation and verification activities on Fire Alarm related equipment for large installations, including installing modules to terminating zone/circuit-

wiring and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications.  Participate in on-call service and travel throughout the district

Business’ area when required.

 

Duties include site preparation for hardware installations, de-installations, upgrades, configuration changes and modifications in support of the activities related to client projects; ODAR, riser panel, VOIP and the Data Center. Responsible for following the development of project schedules and planning documents, coordination of vendors, on-site assistance in the site planning and installation of equipment, and verification of newly installed power circuits and other site modifications.  Expertise included; installation of servers, routers, switches, etc. and all associated hardware, cable installation, and housing of equipment in cabinets, with the primary emphasis on safety. Responsible for having an understanding of the setup and workings of a multi-platform environment that includes knowledge of all types of mainframe equipment i.e. Z9 Processors, different types of DASD and vendors, tape drives, T10k Silos.  They must understand the power requirements and the connectivity of the equipment via FICON directors, ESCON, Fiber, bus and tag.
